Ravens vs. Golden Hawks: The Swirsk checks in

For those of you who aren't compulsively on twitter, you may have missed a Chuck Swirsky sighting in the world of OUA ball.

HE RETWEETED IT! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT! OMGOMGOMGOMG! THE CHUCK SWIRSKY!

Seriously though, that made me smile.

Shoutout to Laurier's Kyle Enright (#3 in your programs, #1 in your twitter feed) who tweeted at the Swirsk and brightened our day as a result.

Also of Raptors interest, one of Swirsky's replacements on the airwaves, Paul Jones, is doing a column for oua.ca on Ontario basketball so be sure to check out this week's piece on this HUGE game.

Who do you have taking this game? My gut and brain say Carleton but you never want to count out Kale Harrison and Laurier.

Comment. Tweet. E-mail. Onions, baby, onions.

This one is Carleton's all the way. They have been a wrecking machine all season and, as close as Laurier came to a Carleton team that had their worst weekend of the season last year at the OUA Final Four, they are going to discover that this is the strongest and deepest Ravens team in 10 years of CIS dominance.

Laurier is going to look to run and gun and that is going to kill them because Carleton can go 9-10 deep with almost no drop off in productivity while Laurier will be stuck doing it with a much shorter bench.

On top of that, the top Laurier players played a LOT of minutes in order to squeak out a one point win over a far inferior Gee Gees squad while Carleton's top players played minimal minutes as the bench was emptied in a spanking of Waterloo.

Carleton is undefeated in 50+ home games and Smart tore them a new one after a poor defensive effort in Thunder Bay last weekend, where it should never have been that close if the Ravens didn't show the fatigue from the long trip that morning. They played sloppy and still beat the best team in OUA west on the road.

I'm calling for at least a 10-15 point Carleton victory. This is the best single CIS basketball team of the past decade.
