OUA Headline of the Day: "Thieving Gryphons drop Waterloo hoopsters"
That's what it's called.
Sounds a little like some sort of 1930s throwdown, no?
The actual story refers to Saturday's 19 point win by the Gryphs over the Warriors in OUA Men's Basketball action.
GUELPH — Three acts of thievery by the Guelph Gryphons led to victory Saturday afternoon at the Mitchell Athletics Centre.
With the Waterloo Warriors a little too close for comfort, the Gryphs swiped the ball on three consecutive throw-ins by the visitors and turned the steals into points to pull away to an 82-63 OUA men’s basketball triumph.
“We came in wanting to pick them up full-court (man-to-man defence) as much as we could the whole game to try to wear them out, make them make decisions and take the ball out of their point guard (Cam MacIntyre),” Gryphon coach Chris O’Rourke said.
“Maybe it doesn’t pay off for you in the first 10 minutes, 20 minutes, but you’re banking that you’re going to grind it and make them make some turnovers and that was huge for us.”
At any rate, great, great headline. Slow clap goes out to the Guelph Mercury.
